2021 Design Trends
It seems that every day we see a new and innovative design trend on our social media feeds or on the many interior design shows. Design trends come and go all the time, but these trends seem like they might be around for the long run.
Fluted & Reeded Moulding
Fluted and reeded moulding are products that have not been utilized much in recent years. That is until now. These moulding profiles have taken off in the DIY world. From accent walls to furniture pieces, these projects are being done by almost everyone in the designer world.
Fluted and reeded moulding can be used to create a gorgeous and unique look on anything in your home that is due for a refresh. Check out Fariha’s coffee table that uses this look, along with Rebecca’s accent wall that brings a ton of texture and color in an otherwise bland space.
Shoeless Balusters
In the world of stair parts, we are seeing a trend where designers are favoring the shoeless look when it comes to balusters. This minimalist look brings a fresh and clean style to any staircase.
Not only is this style trending across designers, but it is also one we have had our eyes on for a while. That is why L.J. Smith, our sister company, has developed No Show Fasteners for balusters. With this new product, builders and DIYers can easily achieve this clean look with minimal effort. Learn more about this product in our 2021 Novo New Products brochure!
Board and Batten
Yet another trend that is making a comeback this year is board and batten accent walls. Along with many other types of fun accent walls, designers are sprucing up their homes with some color this Spring.
With all the time that people have had in their homes with the pandemic, it is no surprise that they have wanted to spruce up their bland walls with some fun projects. Many people have turned to creating accent walls in their spare time and have used their time to improve their DIY skills and create board and batten styled walls. These walls have been slowly booming in popularity over the last few months, and now we are seeing them all over our feed, along with other bolder and more modern wall designs like Slat Walls.
From using modern Craftsman moulding profiles to more unique looks using different profiles, these walls add dimension and style to these spaces.
