With picture frame and decorative trim rising in popularity, it is no surprise that many Featured Designers from the last Fall One Room Challenge integrated these pieces into their project. One designer, Saudah Saleem, took these decorative trim mouldings and ran with them.

Saudah Saleem with @saudahsaleeminteriors is a Baltimore-based Interior Designer, a mom of 5, and a Featured Designer for the 2021 Fall One Room Challenge. For this challenge, Saudah transformed all three rooms on the 2nd level of her house: the master bedroom, her teenage son’s room, and her younger children’s shared bedroom.

The Plan

Saudah knew she wanted to create an elegant space in her bedroom, a room that previously had no personality. To create the elegant space she dreamed of, she knew that she was going to need a lot of decorative trim mouldings.

“My goal was to create a sanctuary space to relax in after the long busy days I have. As a working mom of 5, a retreat at home is much needed. I wanted the space to feel like a mix of Parisian apartment meets Harlem Renaissance meets Brooklyn browstone.”

Products Used

After one look at the Ornamental website, Saudah knew exactly what she was going to need to create her dream bedroom.

“We installed Chair Rail and Picture Frame trim molding from Novo Building Products to evoke a sense of luxury and elegance. The walls, including the molding is painted in a lovely warm white that envelopes you as soon as you walk in.”

Not only did she add beautiful decorative trim to the spaces, but she added Fluted Trim to her closet doors for a beautifully elegant look, and completed the space with our 1712 Crown Moulding.

Finished Space

From the beautiful decorative trim pieces to the fluted closet doors, the space came together beautifully and there are no traces of the old, builder grade room that is was prior to this 8 week challenge.
