It’s that time of the year again to celebrate the Golden Hammer Award winners, one of which is our very own CoverTrim product!
For decades, the Golden Hammer Awards have played a role in the home improvement industry, recognizing the best of the best of home improvement products Every year a team of professionals reviews new product entries at HBSDealer magazine.
Earlier this year, we submitted Ornamental’s new product; CoverTrim. We submitted this product because we believe it not only met --- but exceed --- all the necessary requirements.
The judges for this award follow the below criteria to judge each entry:
• Innovation — features, technology, differentiation and benefits;
• Value — Including relative price, consumer relevance, and functional practicality;
• Shelf appeal — clarity of message, and overall desirability of the product within its category.
After careful deliberation, the judges agreed that CoverTrim is Golden Hammer worthy. It has proved to be innovative and it offers strong benefits to users. See the full list of Golden Hammer award winners on the HBS blog.
CoverTrim is a clever solution for refreshing outdated trim mouldings - just cover them with this durable medium-density fiberboard. “The homeowner can save a lot of time when bringing a new style to their home. It easily brings crisp, clean lines to any room.”
Since we launched our CoverTrim product early this year, we have had a lot of interest in the innovative product. Take a look at just a few projects that we have seen so far that utilized CoverTrim as a time saving solution to modernize their spaces.
Clark + Aldine
Needing a quick solution to cover outdated trim in both their studio and client’s home, Clark and Aldine turned to Ornamental Decorative Millwork for their CoverTrim solution.
“When we moved into our new studio space, we aimed to keep the updates to a minimum. The element we always change is our mouldings” CoverTrim allowed them to do just that with no demolition work for an instantaneous update to their space pictured to the right.
Pete Foster
After Renu Multifamily Services earned the contract to fully renovate 60 apartments in Spring Valley, Calif., they encountered a problem. Asbestos in the drywall meant they could not disturb the baseboard mouldings. The solution? Go over the existing mouldings with CoverTrim.
“Every room in each apartment needed new base moulding to help upgrade the units,” says Pete Foster, project manager with Renu Multifamily Services. “We’re fortunate that our estimators and purchasing people were able to find CoverTrim. Instead of ripping out and replacing the old baseboards, we simply slid the CoverTrim over the top of the older baseboards. Then we nailed it in place and kept on going. It was exactly what we needed for this job.”
Made of durable medium-density fiberboard (MDF), CoverTrim from Ornamental Decorative Millwork comes primed and ready to paint. Available transition blocks and spacers make it easy to quickly gain new mouldings throughout a home, multi-family or commercial project.
